Phil Conley told his wife, Esther, that he wanted to start a business where only happy people would come. He did not want to sell anything that someone needed, only something that people wanted.

The logical conclusion? Toys!


In 1949 Phil & Esther bought a house, converted the upstairs into offices and the downstairs into showrooms. And Phil went to work looking for the best toys, toys that would bring smiles of delight to generations of children in Jackson. Pretty soon the Toy House had a reputation for offering the best toys and the most helpful services. Phil & Esther needed more room. In 1967 they relocated to the banks of the lovely Grand River in downtown Jackson.

If you grew up in Jackson, chances are you received a present giftwrapped in Toy House paper. You also probably know someone who has worked there. Hundreds of the friendliest people in Jackson have brought smiles to customers' faces as employees.

Now in it's third generation of family ownership, Toy House and Baby Too is one of the largest independent, family-owned toy stores in America, and one of the greatest shopping experiences in Michigan.

We have over 30,000 square feet of selling and warehouse space holding the largest collection of quality toys, dolls, bikes, hobbies, baby items, crafts, books, and more under one roof. More importantly, we still have some of the most wonderful people on our staff, professionals dedicated to making you smile every time you visit.

Bring your family for a day of browsing. There are fun displays, hands-on demonstrations, and plenty of toys to be discovered. "Just Looking" is something we encourage, because we know there is so much to see. And if you have questions, you'll find plenty of staff ready to answer your questions, help you pick out the right items, or just make sure your visit is fun.
